Why Use Natural Head Lice Treatments

BySamora Jinqua

If you have children, chances are they are going to get head lice at some point. Lice do not discriminate against cleanliness or wealth. The bugs live only on humans and can spread very quickly from child to child. Girls are more likely to catch them than boys. All that the pesky critters look for is a clean head of hair. If you notice that your child is scratching their head more than normal or seem more tired than usual because the pesky bugs are very active at night, you will want to do a head check. You may notice nits or lice eggs attached to the hair shaft or see the bugs crawling through the hair.

So what do you do if you find evidence of head lice? The first thing is not to panic! Although the bugs are pesky, they do not pose a health risk. With so many treatments on the market today, it is hard to choose which to buy. Many lotions and shampoos contain Permethrin or Lindane, chemicals in the pesticide family, which may be toxic to children if it is used incorrectly. Misuse can led to side effects of nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue or even neurological problems and head lice are becoming resistant to these treatments. This means that parents have to use these harmful chemicals on their children again and again.

The safer and just as effective option would be to use natural lice treatments. These treatments use 100% natural products that do not pose any health risk to children. Natural lice treatments use plant and fruit resources and extracts instead of chemicals, ensuring that the shampoos and creams are non toxic, which means that they are safer for your child and the environment. These treatments do not pose the same health risks as their toxic counterparts and are just as effective in eliminating head lice once and for all. Natural lice treatments can be found in retail stores and online, wherever their non-natural counterparts are sold.

People who have sensitive skin or allergies may also benefit from using non-toxic natural lice treatments, as they tend to be less harsh on the skin and have less man-made ingredients. Of course if natural treatments do not work on the head lice, further non-natural treatments may be used as the next step. A doctor should be consulted before undertaking any type of lice treatment regiment.

Natural hair lice treatment alternatives can be found on shelves at most stores and online. To learn more about the benefits of natural head lice treatment and treating head lice at home, visit Hair Fairies.
